
How “Elegantly Odd” Was Born: The Story Behind the Name
Have you ever wondered where a brand gets its name? Sometimes it’s a brainstorm, sometimes it’s a bolt of inspiration, and sometimes… it’s a birthday balloon gone rogue.
Let me take you back to my 30th birthday (I’m now proudly in my mid-40s, so this story’s had time to age like a fine wine). As I walked in to a celebratory family team with my mum, I was greeted by those big metallic number balloons floating in the air and making it unmistakably clear it was my birthday! The kind that are impossible to wrangle and always seem to have a mind of their own.
As luck (and a tangle of helium) would have it, the string wrapped around just so, and my “30” balloons twisted into a shape that looked more like “EO.” My mum, never one to miss a beat, looked at me and said, “Oh look, Lucy, you’re elegantly odd.”
Cue the laughter, the eye rolls, and that little spark in my brain that said, “Wait… that’s actually brilliant.”
I’ve always loved the idea of celebrating what makes us different - those quirks, bold choices, and little oddities that make life (and style) a lot more interesting. “Elegantly Odd” stuck with me for years. I knew it was the perfect name for a brand that’s all about statement jewellery, playful confidence, and not taking yourself too seriously.
So when it came time to launch my business, there was only one name that felt right. Elegantly Odd isn’t just a label - it’s a reminder to embrace your unique, your bold, your beautifully offbeat self. Whether you’re stacking rings, mixing metals, or just showing up as you are, this brand is for the ones who do things their own way - with a dash of elegance, and a sprinkle of odd.
